James Gettys Elementary School

Parking Policy:
Please make sure that information regarding the parking situation at the James Gettys playing site has been passed on to your team parents.
Due to limited parking at James Gettys Elementary School, each team playing at this site will be issued a minimum of three parking passes for on-site parking. We will distribute parking permits for this site at registration on Friday night. It will be up to each team as to how those permits are distributed. Parking passes must be left on your dashboard and visible at all times while your vehicle is parked at James Gettys. All vehicles without permits will be directed to a satellite parking area at Schindler Elevator Corp., (1200 Biglerville Road, Gettysburg), which is about three quarters of a mile from James Gettys. THERE WILL NOT BE ANY ADDITIONAL AVAILABLE PARKING NEAR THESE FIELDS. Vehicles will NOT be permitted to park along the road at the school or in the housing development across the street as it causes a traffic hazard. Any vehicle that does not have a permit or that is parked illegally will be ticketed and towed by the Township Police at the owner's expense.
We have arranged for shuttle busses to transport players, parents and anyone else to and from the satellite parking area to the fields. The buses will run from 7am to close on Saturday and from 7am to close on Sunday. Buses are scheduled to run approximately every 15 to 20 minutes but will run sooner if filled. Please take note of this and plan ahead to leave plenty of time to get to and from the fields. We DO NOT recommend any one walking along Biglerville Road for any reason as this is a main artery into Gettysburg and there is little shoulder on either side of the road.
There will be a drop off/loading zone for anyone wishing to load/unload passengers and equipment. Drivers MUST stay with their vehicles while in the loading zone. Vehicles may not remain in the loading zone for any more than five minutes. Please adhere to this in consideration of the people following you, giving equal access to all. Please follow the signs posted at the fields for both parking and loading areas.
Maps of your playing location and the satellite parking area can be found on our website, www.gysc.org Please click on "Schedules" where you will find a link for maps and directions available in the first box at the top of the page. You will find an aerial map of the area that, by using your cursor, you can zoom in and drag from one location to the other.
We are attempting to head off as many problems as possible by releasing this information to the teams at this site ahead of time so that your parents have ample time to make arrangements. Again, please make sure the information has been passed on to your team parents.

US RT 15 SOUTH to RT 30 WEST, Continue to center of town (Circle)
bear right on Carlisle Street (34N). Continue approximately
1 mile on Carlisle Street, continue 1/8 mile on 34N (Carlisle
Street), bear left at car wash, James Gettys Elementary School
on the left. Limited parking will be available by the Elementary School.
From South:
Take US RT 15 North to Route 30 West. Then follow directions
from north.
From East:
Take US Route 30 West. Then follow directions from north.
From West:
Take US RT 30 East to the center of town (Circle). Go 3/4
way around circle to Carlisle Street (Rt 34 North). Then follow
directions from north.
